Fine jewelry is an investment, and proper care ensures it remains as stunning as the day you got it. Here are some tips to keep your pieces in prime condition:

  • Before you hop in the shower or lather on lotion or perfume, remember to remove your jewelry. Chemicals can be harsh on delicate metals and gemstones.
  • Hitting the gym? Leave your jewelry at home. Strenuous activities can put unnecessary stress on your pieces, risking damage.
  • Keep your jewelry away from chemicals like perfume, hairspray, cosmetics, and lotion. They can tarnish metals and dull gemstones.
  • At bedtime, give your jewelry a rest. Lay it out flat to avoid unnecessary bending or tangling.
  • When removing necklaces, remember to clasp them. This simple step prevents chains from knotting and saves you from a tangled mess later.
  • If your jewelry features pearls, handle them with extra care. Pearls are delicate and require special attention to maintain their luster.
  • For diamond jewelry, a gentle scrub with a soft toothbrush and dish soap will do the trick—just go easy on the scrubbing. But remember to keep pearls away from chemicals, abrasives, and solvents.

Remember, while we handcraft your jewelry with love, it's up to you to keep it sparkling. Ring Concierge doesn't provide maintenance services, but we're always here to help with quick tips and advice!

A Few More Tips

Here are some of our best RC tips to help you keep some of our favorites shining like the day you got them.

14k Gold Vermeil

Put Jewelry On Last: Apply makeup, perfume, and hairspray first to reduce exposure to chemicals which can cause tarnish.

Keep Dry: Moisture can tarnish the silver underneath and degrade the gold layer. Remove before swimming, showering, or exercising.

Store Carefully: Use a soft pouch or jewelry box to prevent scratches and oxidation.

Sterling Silver

Put Jewelry On Last: Apply makeup, perfume, and hairspray first to reduce exposure to chemicals which can cause tarnish.

Keep Dry: Moisture can tarnish the silver underneath. Remove before swimming, showering, or exercising.

Store Carefully: Use a soft pouch or jewelry box to prevent scratches and oxidation.

Bangles

For our double-sided bangles, we recommend picking a side to flaunt! Consistently showing one face keeps your bangle looking fresh, while the underside faces more wear and tear.

Herringbone Chains

The RC herringbone is very delicate and we recommend being mindful of applying any direct pressure to the chain to keep it sleek and kink-free.

Freshwater Pearls

Always take pearls off before showering or swimming. For a deep clean, we recommend warm, soapy water and avoiding abrasive cleaners along with harsh chemicals like bleach, vinegar or hydrogen peroxide.

Open Wrap Pieces

Always mind your outfit! Avoid pairing our open wrap pieces with delicate fabrics like large knits or lace to prevent catching on the open ends of your piece. Do not squeeze or expand your piece, the metal may misshape and you risk loose prongs and lost diamonds.
